Diana has been a youth pastor for 16 years.  This past May Diana had a title change to Pastor of Spiritual Formation to better describe the broader scope of ministry that she does at NECC.  Diana grew up in Geneva, Illinois, and after attending North Park University in Chicago, Illinois, receiving her Batchelor’s in Psychology and minor in youth ministry, she served for 10 years in an Episcopal church she grew up in.   During Her first two years in ministry she received a Master’s in Clinical Psychology.  After many years in the Episcopal church 6 years ago she came to the Covenant church to serve.  Last year Diana was ordained into the Covenant church into specialized ministry in Spiritual Direction.

Diana also loves to meet with people for Spiritual Direction.  She also loves to see people serving in the kingdom of God where they are called and gifted.  She finds great hope in the next generation as they learn to love God and love others.

Diana is married to Rodney Shiflett who is currently serving as the associate pastor at a new church plant in Bolingbrook, IL City of Hope Covenant Church.  Rodney enjoys preaching, teaching, playing the drums and overseeing the growth groups at City of Hope.  City of Hope has become a sister church to NECC.  Rodney is a Bi-vocational pastor in the Covenant, and works hard at his day job as well as a Vice-president of an ambulance company.

Diana loves people. She collects friends as her favorite hobby.  She loves to relax by the pool and spend time outside soaking up the sun whether it’s swimming, walking the dog, biking, or running, she enjoys unplugging from things and relaxing.  Diana and her husband can be often seen catching a movie together. Someday she’s hope’s to publish all the crazy ministry stories that she has in a book, but for now who has time?

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
