  Our Tangled Webs

We now going to focus our attention in worship on our web of relationships. Think of all the relationships you have around you, home, work, neighbors, those you see at the convenience store, the cosmos. In many real ways we are the sum of our relationships. But sometimes we have a very tangled web and the sum of those relationships doesn’t add up. But there is a path and a design for those connections; it comes from the heart of God.

We would love to have you come and join us as we pay attention to our tangled webs. Here si the schedule:

March 29-30:     There is a God, and it isn’t us!

April 5-6:          Husbands and Wives – a lesson in cross-cultural studies

April 12-13:       Wives and Husbands – more cross-cultural studies

April 19-20:       Children – what to do, what to do??

April 26-27:       Parents – what to do, what to do??

May 3-4:           Can’t we just be friends?

May 10-11:        Christian to Christian

May 17-18:        For one who is in need.

Our worship times are 5:00 pm on Saturday evenings and 10:30 am Sunday mornings

  Welcome to Our Site
Naperville Covenant Church has been on the corner of Hobson Rd. and Naper Blvd. for 30 years with one purpose in mind – to be a Christ Focused Community where everyone has a place and everyone belongs. We accomplish this by worshipping together, by sharing our hope with our friends and family, by growing in our understanding of who Christ is and what He is calling us to accomplish, and by discovering how we are gifted and where we can serve God's kingdom and one another.
We are not so different from you. We have struggles and we have successes. We have good days and bad days. We fall down and we have to get up again. We love our children and often our schedules are too full; but we have found that life in Jesus is the one hope we can count on, no matter what. Jesus is the foundation of our lives. We aren’t perfect, never have been, never will be in this world. We simply aren’t finished. We are on a journey and we invite you to join us. We have a passion for all families and children. Our desire is to integrate our faith into all aspects of our lives, and to do this together.
We take the Bible seriously. We take people seriously. We make every effort to love and care for and have fun with each other, but sometimes we fall short. We learn to forgive and grow with each other. We worship God and Jesus with young and old, with songs and words that will touch every heart and soul.
We would love to have you come and see who we are. You are always welcome. Come as you are and discover what God is doing here. At Naperville Covenant we believe everyone has a place and everyone belongs.

  Just a Thought
So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? Only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord your God and his decrees that I am commanding you today, for your own well-being. Deuteronomy 10: 12-13

Ever wonder what is it God wants from you? Just read the two verses above. Not hard, not a secret. If you were making a list it might look like this:

  • Fear the Lord – which means come to him in awe and reverence. Recognize his power and authority. Give to him the honor respect that he is due.
  • Walk in his ways – he has laid out the path he expects for us. He has shown us what is right and what is good. We are walk in his character.
  • To love him – we have personal God who passionately loves us and asks that we return this love. To place him at the highest place in our priorities and devotion.
  • Serve the Lord our God with all our heart and soul – serve, devote, work for his Kingdom and what is right. Serve in our homes and in our employment. In all things remember we serve the Lord.
  • Keep his commands – obey. So what he says. Live according to his guidelines. Listen and follow.

In doing all these things we discover that we benefit. God has given us these commands, this instruction for our benefit, our well being. We thrive in serving, we gain in loving and obeying, we are elevated if we fear the Lord, and we will live well if we walk in his ways. God is not a distant or cruel master. He has given us these commands so we can flourish.

So if this true, and it is, why is it so hard for us to simply listen and follow? You have to wonder…
